Solid Steel Radio Show 18/5/2018 Hour 2 - Solid Blake
Ninja Tune

In Hour 2 we have Emma ‘Solid’ Blake, a DJ and producer who, originally from Glasgow, now plays a prominent role in the bustling electronic music scene emerging from Copenhagen. Having first appeared as a producer at Glasgow’s highly influential freeform radio station Subcity Radio, after moving to Denmark, Blake quietly built a glowing reputation among the underground techno community in Copenhagen as part of renowned DJ collective Apeiron Crew. Never one to restrict herself, she’s embarked on a journey as a solo artist, turning her hand to production and adopting the moniker ‘Solid Blake’ – a playful nod to the lead character Snake from video game classic Metal Gear Solid. She continues to build on the style and reputation nurtured by her earlier projects in her solo production work, her own sound dipping regularly into the grittier recesses of techno and electro, with healthy servings of acid. She told us; "I recorded this mix at home late at night (sorry neighbours), and it ended up turning out a little darker than I had planned, even though I was in a pretty good mood at the time. It's a collection of new stuff from friends, some tracks I've been playing recently and a couple of things I've not quite had the courage to play in a club setting (yet)" The Solid Steel website for track lists and archive shows. Solid Steel Radio Show 11/5/2018 Hour 2 - Krystal Klear
Ninja Tune

In Hour 2 we hand over to Krystal Klear following the release of his latest EP 'The Division', which includes the huge 'Neutron Dance' and is out on Running Back, the label run by Gerd Janson. Having previously released on UTTU, Hot Haus, Eglo, Madtech and All City, the Irish producer also runs his own label Cold Tonic. He will be playing all night in his home town Dublin at District 8 on May 12th to celebrate the release of the EP and he told us; "Dark disco balearic garage sleaze. A selection of tracks I would use to warm up a club to bring it into the heavier stages of the evening. Tipping the hat to Larry and Alfredo. Sun cream and plastic dreams. As Gerd would say 'guilty feet have got no rhythm” The Solid Steel website for track lists and archive shows.
