MNQ 101 Fred Ventura - Future Unknown - The Lost House Trax 1988-1992 LP
Mannequin Records

Release date: 26th January 2018 Order: http://mannequinrecords.bigcartel.com/product/mnq-101-fred-ventura-future-unknown-the-lost-house-trax-1988-1992-lp Conceived along the space of a few years and part of a big collection of unfinished experiments stored on cassette tapes, this eight tracks selection well represents Fred Ventura's late 80s and early 90s infatuation with Chicago House, Detroit Techno, early Warp records and even a secret passion for EBM. Using a basic set up made of Roland Juno 106, Roland JX-8p, Oberheim DX, Roland TR909 and an Akai sampler, these tracks were never officially mixed and meant to be released until today. Minimal and hypnotic, dry and direct, both sides of the record show an instinctive approach to rhythms and basslines, typical of those days where computer didn't have a predominant role in the creative process. One of the Italian electronic music's best-kept secrets. Tip!!! MNQ 118 Siekiera - Nowa Aleksandria LP
Mannequin Records

Release date: 26th January 2018 Order http://mannequinrecords.bigcartel.com/product/mnq-118-siekiera-nowa-aleksandria-lp We are proud to start the year 2018, 10th anniversary of the label, with one of our favourite records ever by Siekiera, the 80's Polish legendary post punk band. Sieikera were at the forefront of Poland's post-punk movement, and thus, are one of the most beloved bands. Formed in 1983 as a more straightforward hardcore punk band, the band honed their craft for three years before cutting their first record. By then, the band had begun experimenting with cold synthesizers and bleaker textures, tapping into the same sonic template as Killing Joke and Joy Division. Pushing their sound further and deeper against the backdrop of Poland's desolate and isolated Cold War exterior, the results were incredibly powerful and influential. Nowa Aleksandria is still regarded one of the most cherished records of the post-punk underground, featuring incisive guitars, buzzing synths, and fast-paced, blistering energy. The LP remains one of the most important recordings from the era, and continues to inspire and influence to date. Despite its darker tone, Nowa Aleksandria was successful, with two tracks appearing on the LP3 top ten. The record would sell 50,000 copies worldwide, earning the band a respectable local following. As such, their cult expands past Poland, with countless fans across the globe. The band would split very soon after the release of Nowa Aleksandria, but over 30 years later, their tracks can still be heard in clubs in Europe and the US. (text by: Frank Deserto, Systems of Romance) Tracklist A1 Idziemy przez las A2 Ludzie wschodu A3 Bez końca A4 Idziemy na skraj A5 Na zewnątrz B1 Nowa Aleksandria B2 To słowa B3 Już blisko B4 Tak dużo, tak mocno B5 Czerwony pejzaż Mastered by Damian Lipiński from the original analog master tapes. 500 copies, first 100 copies on a limited edition on solid red vinyl. Licensed from Wytwórnia Muzyczna MTJ, Fonobo label.

Mannequin Records Podcast 6 - Parrish Smith
Mannequin Records

Parrish Smith crafts a sound that’s both familiar and deeply inexplicable. Hovering between body music, electronica, industrial and deep-burning jakbeat yet rejecting the conventions of all them, his output is as elusive as it is absorbing. Inspired by personal experiences and his determination to keep evolving, Smith developed a distinctive sound derived from an all-analogue set-up, sampling every object that produces sound. His signature raw machine wrangling gained attention from Nina Kraviz who released 2 tracks’ on her трип imprint, while the Dutch label Knekelhuis signed his debut EP: Virgin Of The World. Alongside Pankow, Helena Hauff and Perseus Traxx, Smith contributed to a split EP on Contort Yourself including a 4-tracker on L.I.E.S. records. Parrish Smith will join Mannequin Records Nacht III on December 22nd at Säule / Berghain. More info and tracklist: http://www.mannequinrecords.com/mannequin-records-podcast-6-parrish-smith/

Techno Bert - Neue Dimensionen (Marvin & Guy Remix)
Mannequin Records

Digital download from Bandcamp: https://mannequinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/mnq-094-techno-bert-neue-dimensionen-12 12'' vinyl: http://mannequinrecords.bigcartel.com/product/mnq-094-techno-bert-neue-dimensionen-12 Originally released in 1990 on Doremix Records, Techno Bert was the studio project of Robert Passera and Stefano Cundari, co-owner of Memory Records and mastermind behind some italo disco classic names like Hipnosis, Koto, Faxe. Stefano Cundari unfortunately died of cancer on the same year of the release. "Neue Dimensionen" was developed on Siouxsie & The Banshees's well-known guitar riff of 'Happy House', in a techno crescendo, where the duo would have enjoyed inserting as many samples as possible by stopping only when the capacity of the sampler Akai S1000 memory would be full. While Cundari cared for the sounds from the 48-channel analogue bench and assigned modular effects to the tracks, in studio there was also the musician Stefano Carrara who piloted the keyboards and the Notator installed on the Atari computer. The couple started the work by sampling the Human League "Being Boiled" groove, and built on harmony and melody inspired by Siouxsie & The Banshees with a Jupiter synth to which they added a low reinforcement obtained with a Roland TB-303. The drum set was based on Roland Tr-909 samples. The sample of the voice comes from "Herrmann Hiess Er" by Nina Hagen, cutting and pasting vocal fragments all around the track, from which they got the name 'Neue Dimensionen'. Even though it was distributed by Flying Records, only the most attentive clubs talked about Techno Bert single. Many discovered it the following year through the Belgian press on Target that circulated in almost all of Europe, or through the Spanish version of Spitfire. Even without big sales numbers and without any radio passage, the song continue to survive by virtue of a subtly underground connotation. Mastering by Rude 66. Graphic design by Alessandro Adriani. 12'' Tracklist A1 Intro A2 Neue Dimensionen B Neue Dimensionen (Instrumental) Digital Tracklist A1 Intro A2 Neue Dimensionen B1 Neue Dimensionen (Instrumental) B2 Neue Dimensionen (Marvin & Guy Remix)

MNQ100 - An-i & Alessandro Adriani - With You (preview)
Mannequin Records

Waves of the Future // 2x12" Release date: February 16th 2018 Mannequin’s newest project and 100th release overall: the Waves of the Future double LP compilation, which itself is not a conventional retrospective collection. Case in point – none of the artists appearing on this collection have put out their own releases on Mannequin yet, despite acting as Mannequin’s unofficial ambassadors (via DJ sets and other means). This makes the set even more compelling rather than less so, since it shows how Mannequin fits into a larger picture that includes other scene leaders and label owners including Beau Wanzer (Ecstatic), Willie Burns (WT Records), Silent Servant (Jealous God) and Ron Morelli (L.I.E.S.). Of equal importance is how Waves of the Future projects a sense of aesthetic resilience and continuity; showcasing just how well the current artists allied with Mannequin employ and re-interpret the sonic lexicon that appears on that label’s reissues of ‘classic’ acts such as Nocturnal Emissions, Bourbonese Qualk, Din A Testbild and Doris Norton. However, none of this would matter as much if the music itself didn’t have strong potential for lighting a blaze in the dark corners of the human imagination, and of course for forcing bodies into motion. Each track here pivots around a couple of key sound elements that seem to set the stage for the next track to come: see the sputtering / chopped ghost voices on Morelli’s “Charges Won’t Stick,” which easily informs the slicing drone and authoritarian beat of Shawn O’ Sullivan’s “Ill Fit,” which then lays down the emotional foundation for the sequencer-powered “With You” from An-I & Adriani or the glassy landscape of Illum Sphere’s “Exhaustion”. Elsewhere, the wired mischief of Not Waving intersects easily with the spherical electro-funk and coded commands of Beau Wanzer. When all the disparate parts of Waves of the Future are soldered together, it perfectly illustrates Mannequin’s non-linear philosophy and Adriani’s suggestion that Mannequin listeners directly engage with the music rather than trying too hard to analyze or dissect it. A1 / 1. Silent Servant - Defiant Pose A2 / 2. Ron Morelli - Charges Won't Stick B1 / 3. Beau Wanzer - Snake And Shake B2 / 4. Shawn O'Sullivan - Ill Fit C1 / 5. Not Waving - Secret Weapon C2 / 6. MNQ 117 group A - group A 12'' EP
Mannequin Records

Release date 4th December 2017 Order: http://mannequinrecords.bigcartel.com/product/mnq-117-group-a-group-a-12 Berlin based Japanese industrial synth duo group A make their debut on Mannequin Records with a killer 3-tracks self titled EP. Tommi Tokyo (synth, drum machine, vocals) and Sayaka Botanic (violin, tapes and sampler) released 2 studio albums and 1 live album in Tokyo, before to move in Berlin in 2016. With their mixture of dark minimal synth, avant-noise, striking visuals and performance art, the duo still carries on the very breath of early industrial pioneers such as Throbbing Gristle, Die Form, Klinik, Cabaret Voltaire. The EP was recorded in Tommi's bedroom and later mixed together with Mannequin Records head Alessandro Adriani in his own studio in Berlin. The first two tracks of the EP, 'T.O.P.' and 'Ketabali' represents the duo personal reaction against the current economy, an up yours to capitalism, news and politics, all permeated by industrial rhytmic-noises and words with no meaning. The B2 'Alibi' instead was inspired by an autobiography of Hi-Red Centre(Japanese avant-grade art group in the 60-70's) written by one of the members, Genpei Akasegawa. Tommi found the word "Alibi" in the book and she just started singing about the group. As she never wrote lyrics for that, during their live performances they are always improvised, so changing and mutating every time. Mixed by Alessandro Adriani and group A, Berlin 2017. Mastered by Rude66, Amsterdam 2017. Graphics by group A, Berlin 2017.

MNQ 102 Nocturnal Emissions - Nocturnal Emissions 2xLP / CD
Mannequin Records

2xLP: http://bit.ly/2yO02Er CD: http://bit.ly/2y1pOWo Release date 13th November 2017 Nocturnal Emissions has been one of the best kept secrets of the industrial genre since the 1970s. Led by Nigel Ayers, the band was one of the first to use tape cutting, avant-garde art, and underground video works to create a stage experience that was being cultivated by like-mindedartists like Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire. The band moved on to using samplers and electronic noise in their early 80's work, creating a twisted funk sound that would go on to influence everyone from Foetus to Negativland. They still utilized their former tricks, upping the ante with extremist performance art and more professional video displays. The group avoided signing to a major label, instead focusing on releasing their own music more effectively. They followed this path into the 90's when they started www.earthlydelights.co.uk, an incredibly detailed website that promotes their various ideologies (they are strongly against the British monarchy and believe that citizens should have unlimited access to space travel) and constant release schedule. The band has released countless tapes and CDs of their material, and continues to unleash their noise through their website. Graphic artwork by Simon Crab. Audio mastering by Rude 66.
