  • Exercise 24 But Beautiful Van Heusen & Burke
    Samuel Bolaños Whangpo

Exercise 24 for Jazz Course at Futurelearn with Ray D'Inverno Free exercise. A standard trying to use either root position or voicings and other tools studied in the course. No backing track. Well, this was more difficult than expected since I had to make all the choices. In this exercise I chose the standard and had no guide at all from Ray. All mistakes are mine and no one else's. But I had a lot of fun choosing the standard, and trying to figure out what to do with the chord, tune, rhythm, etc. Hopefully, I''ll be able to improve it when I learn more. I feel I'm still a basic student of jazz. By the way, my impro's mmm well, I need to work a lot on that. I did the recording with my Yamaha cp 40, but I guess the volume was too high. Tried to fix that with bit with audacity. I know very little about sound software. I guess you need external speakers to get an acceptable sound, my keyboard records in just one way and it seems sound has to be treated to be heard well in all devices, but I do not know how to do that.Something about reducing the bit rate and hertz and hmm

  • That Ain't No Jive
    Jamie Rhind
    Soul Jazz

It's Sunday and no time better for a little grooving...this one's a little soulful blues and the photo's from the greatest blues club of all, Chicago's Kingston Mines. When you visit Chicago be sure to go at least one night. Live blues on two rotating stages from 8p - 4a every night of the year. And if you can play they often let you sit in. People all over bringing instruments for late night action. Named our newest dog Koko Taylor, who's photo in in the poster on the wall - the Queen of Chicago Blues. Thanks as always for your generous time listening, for your comments and for your shares

  • Jay And Kai tribute (preview)
    Jazz en Blues

Bert Boeren and Ilja Reijngoud, Jay & Kai tribute, 9 new arrangements of Kai Winding and J.J. Johnson classics, 3 originals of Ilja. In 2002 Ilja Reijngoud teamed up with the most talented and adventurous Dutch musicians to form his own quartet. Ilja worked on the subtleties of small group interplay with three extraordinary musicians. Their experience and dedication makes this group a dynamic and unique quartet. For this special program Ilja and Dutch trombone-giant Bert Boeren joined forces. Their interpretation of Kai Windings compositions is superior and incomparable.
