  • Simon Says - Feel Me (Bill Brewster Edit)
    Eskimo Recordings

Keeping things nice and sleazy Parisian producer Simon Says makes his debut on Eskimo Recordings covering English synth-pop band Blancmange's 1982 album track 'Feel Me'. Transforming the song into the kind of outrageously funky slice new wave disco that could have sat proudly on an old Ze Records compilation its low slung groove is now sure to soundtrack as many illicit 'Cinq a Sept' assignations as it is sweaty dancefloor moments. Disco historian Bill Brewster returns to Eskimo a year on from his acclaimed 'Tribal Rites' compilation with an extended re-edit that once again proves that he's as handy with razor and tape as he is behind the decks. • Stephen Richards of DiscoDaze - The PuzzleProject Sessions Vol.22

Welcome to the Twenty-second instalment in a series of mixes for PuzzleProjectsMusic mixed by DiscoDaze AKA Stephen Richards & Derek Thompson. The guys are from Waterford, Ireland which seems to be a breeding ground for talented track selectors and of course is the stomping ground of one of my favourite pair of artists & previous Guest mix contributors to the page - “Get Down Edits” I came across a DiscoDaze radio show podcast recently on Soundcloud and was loving it from the word go - I am finding out more and more that the seriously passionate DJ’s & artists out there, who genuinely care, always shine through. When I asked the guys to share their story & mix for the page - they sent me the mix through 17 hours later! (no time-wasting at all) :) Six tracks into the mix and they starts ramping the set tempo up in style with Bertrand Burgalat’s track - “Icare” (Yuksek Remix) At 45.41 the volume went seriously up on my headphones as he dropped in an absolute gem from the legendary Dr.Packer and his extended remix of one of my all time favourite tracks - “Big Love” by Pete Heller. This track is a fresh lift on the original and transports me back to a messy, super fun summer festival many years ago with friends. The mix then rolls straight into a thumping red hot Dicky Trisco mix of Klic’s “Disco Music” followed by the lush deep house track “What’s Up” by Freiboitar. Straight into ‘Love Is The Message’ by Moon Rocket & Re-Tide - inspired by the timeless original. Another highlight is George Kelly’s ‘We Can Be Free’ (Club Dub) - the drop at 1:11.46 mins is insane grooves! I could write about this mix all day - but put simply, they are awesome track selectors who really carve out their style and know what they want to achieve an excellent set build. They also master the peaks that any great set should have. Enjoy! Ben x WHO IS STEPHEN RICHARDS? • The Shapeshifters Featuring Teni Tinks ‘Try My Love (On For Size)’ (Club Mix)

The Shapeshifters return to Glitterbox with their stunning dancefloor belter ‘Try My Love (On For Size)’, this time along with a classic disco remix by Dr Packer. Teni Tinks, a session vocalist and arranger who has worked with the likes of Rudimental, Quincy Jones and The Jacksons, lays down fresh vocals on the Sharon Redd anthem from 1980, now laden with fresh horns, strings and arrangement on the Club Mix. The king of disco re-edits Dr Packer slows the composition down, highlighting the impressive instrumental with filtered vocals beneath for a more classic sounding version of this wonderfully life-affirming record.

  • Goz - The PuzzleProject Sessions Vol.24

Welcome to the Twenty-Fourth instalment in a series of mixes for #PuzzleProjectsMusic Today I welcome Mark Christopher AKA GOZ - who is behind Spin City & who is also one part of the Scottish trio behind House Theory Radio Show with the other guys being Lex & Chris Tis. I have been listening to Goz’s mixes for well over 6 months and enjoyed watching HTRS & Spin City grow with fantastic guest artists. This natural sharing & support for each other’s individual & collective development is what makes this music community so awesome to be a part of. 19.45 mins drops Chuggin Edits devastating edit of Bill Withers ‘Grandma’s Hands’ Other highlights in the mix include around 56.28 mins where Goz cleverly starts slowly teasing in the thumping, powerful & dreamy ‘Turn it (Sleazy McQueen Dub)‘ by Snax. I was buzzing when around 57.45 mins it powers ahead and takes the mix into a deeper groove. This follows with the awesome bonkers, jumpy, lively track ‘National Security‘ by Dirtyelements & Drunkdrivers with humorous acapella’s littered throughout - especially the monopoly reference and ‘oatmeal man’ making me laugh out loud & feel good while grooving which is an awesome feeling to experience when listening to music! 1:12.29 mins gave me a sick surprise, I was quietly hoping it was the track coming in I thought it was then as soon as it hit 1:13.30 I knew it was the timeless classic ‘Groove is in the heart’ As the track comes in at 1:14.21 mins is it not the introduction to one of the most iconic & recognisable riffs ever?! The one Mark drops into the mix is (The Reflex Revision). What a super enjoyable mix which kept me guessing throughout and a refreshing track selection. Thank you, Mark AKA Goz, Ben x TRACKLIST 01. Could Heaven Ever Be Like This (Late Nite Tuff Guy Edit) - Idris Muhammad 18. Last Train to The Disco - DJ "S" WHO IS GOZ? Many moons ago (early 90’s), one of Goz’s best mates had a set of Technics that he introduced him to and let him spin a few tunes. It wasn't long before I was completely immersed in learning how to beat match and the technicalities of making a mix sound good. Mark’s pad back then was the meeting point for the troops on evenings & weekends, so he housed the decks for a couple of years. They used to spin tunes pre-& post-nights out. He did this for a few years then stopped for around 15 years for varying reasons. However, he never lost the love for quality music & always kept on the hunt for tapes/cd's/ great mixes on Soundcloud from his favourite DJ’s, during that time his musical tastes developed with a focus on Disco, Soul, Funk and Hip Hop. In 2014 Mark began spending an obsessive amount of time following his passion & mixing. The present day sees Mark part of two radio shows; 1. New York based (Recently awarded #1 House Station and Blog in the world) & runs his own 2-hour weekly radio show. His show is called Spin City has just passed it's 1st birthday. 2. Mark is also part of a trio of friends with Lex & Chris Tibs based in Scotland. They run the House Theory Radio Show that goes out to around 5000 people each week on every Saturday night between 8-10pm. Have a listen to Mark’s shows - he encourages all feedback - positive & negative. This mentality is what makes Mark a super exciting artist to follow.

  • G e n e H a r r i s - D o n't C a l l Me N i g g a (7 Immortals Edit)

REMASTERED, REGROOVED, RESTRUCTURED, RE-EDITED, REMIXED & REPRODUCED BY The Architects of the Good Groove Flips / Dubs / Edits / Remixes / Waxes / Revamps / Re-Cuts / Re-Jams / Regrooves / Bootplates / Bootlegs Collection ridiculously dedicated to the art of unearthing what-on-Earth 45s and stringing them together with little regard for genre, national origin, or much of anything else besides a certain feel of knuckleball unpredictability; carefully drawing out well-worn disco breaks and vocals into deliriously woozy funk fests; characteristically preposterous and crammed with cuts from various genres and threading them into a free-for-all that scans as hip-hop. Once the momentum's established, you might as well leave the "genre" descriptor blank and just zone out; threading them into a free-for-all that scans as hip-hop, even when the material feels more "strange" than "breaks".
