  • Emapea - Seeds, Roots & Fruits (Cold Busted)

Out Now On Cold Busted ------------------ 1. Good Old Days 2. Enjoy 3. What The Funk 4. Orange 5. Milky Haze 6. Yugen + ten more tracks on the full album Accomplished Polish beat-maker Emapea has made memorable appearances on many Cold Busted label compilations – such as in the IWYMI and Bust Free series – and has been selected for inclusion in Mark Farina’s next Mushroom Jazz installment. All this activity has mouths watering for the debut full length album from Emapea, and the appearance of Seeds, Roots & Fruits doesn’t disappoint one bit. Featuring sixteen exceptional tracks ranging from hip hop to acid jazz to psychedelic trip hop in the style of Mo’Wax, Emapea’s long player is indeed, as a wise man once said, “a journey into sound.” Highlights include the sample-rific “Enjoy” which includes smooth key and saxophone riffs, “Good Old Days” with its appealing old school hip hop flavor, the spacey tones of “Milky Haze” and “Yugen”, and the floor-filling breakbeat funk of “What The Funk”. Containing moments both dance-oriented and pensive, Seeds, Roots & Fruits rises above the average beats album to reveal the enduring depth of this young producer … Emapea is one to watch. Emapea’s Seeds, Roots & Fruits is available from Cold Busted on 12" vinyl, cassette tape, compact disc, and 24 bit download. Distributed by Fat Beats. . Mark Farina - "Excellent!" Opolopo (Tokyo Dawn Records / Local Talk) - "Sweet dusty grooves for some serious head nodding." DJ Moneyshot (Solid Steel Radio / NinjaTune) - "Dope. • Mr Echo - Born To Be Blue (Cold Busted)

Out Now On Cold Busted ------------------ 1. Born To Be Blue (feat. Jenova 7) 2. Chrysanthemum (feat. Es-K) 3. Last Trumpet In Las Palmas 4. Nothing Gonna Change (feat. Mononome) 5. Moonchild 6. How Long (feat. Padma Purana) 7. Prison Break (feat. My Neighbour Is) 8. Found (feat. King Shi) 9. That's All Folks (feat. mister T.) Cold Busted is pleased to present Born To Be Blue, a funky solo album from Mr Echo of Greek hip hop duo Q Funktion. Not that Mr Echo is totally on his own here … Born To Be Blue still features many collaborators, from Cold Busted regulars like Jenova 7, Es-K, My Neighbour Is, and mister T., to new names for the label such as Mononome, Padma Purana, and King Shi. Throughout the album there’s a common thread of downbeat American music styles, but it’s heavily frayed and pulled tight across world music influences. At times – such as on album highlights “Moonchild”, “Chrysanthemum”, and “Nothing Gonna Change” – Mr Echo finds himself pulling off Moby-level sampling, but in his own foggier and more heady way. Steadily creeping into the mood, the blues is ever present among the beats. Mr Echo and his Cold Busted companions have outdone themselves with this cohesive, but diverse, collaboration-filled album. . Kid Loco - "Great downtempo tracks." Mark Farina - "I like these!" Sunshine Jones (Dubtribe) - "Pretty amazing. I haven't really heard this sort of hippie breakbeat sound since the early '90s. It's wonderful to hear this headspace again." Nickodemus (Turntables on the Hudson) - "A very nice release! Good, moody sampling and cracking beats." Abicah Soul - "I love it." Dom Servini (Wah Wah 45s) - "I love this album! It's hard to chose a favorite." Jaymz Nylon (Nylon Trax) - "Great cinematic album … an amazing listening experience." Stereo 77 (Plimsoll Records) - "Love it! Mr Echo is definitely one to keep an eye on." Phat Phil Cooper (NuNorthern Soul) - "Lovely stuff … proper chilled vibes." Mojo Rising (Cold Busted / F.A.M.I.L.Y.) - "Auditory bliss. All these hit that sweet spot." Ross Wakefield (Part-Time Heroes / Hideout Sessions) - "Some tidy beats in here!" DJ Doubles (Freestyle Fusion) - "A very nice, melancholic and chilled-out trip into the unknown." DJ Tomas (Google Play / Umoja HiFi) - "Like the best releases from Ninja Tune, MoWax, Cup of Tea, and other respected downtempo imprints, this album impresses with its consistency and production quality." Aja Allsop (Ketch A Vibe Radio Show) - "Stunning … simple as that, people." Myxzlplix (Subdivisions Global) - "I love these tracks. Excellent soul and downtempo vibes." . • Kill Emil - Salvation (Cold Busted)

Out Now On Cold Busted ------------------ 1. When I See Your Smile 2. The Happening 3. Can't Find It 4. Such A Long Time 5. Out Of Town 6. A Taste Of Honey + six more tracks on the full album Kill Emil is a DJ and producer based in Athens, Greece – by way of Brazil – who, since 2009, has created a healthy discography of potent beats and sublime atmospheres. With an early inspiration in hip hop and, importantly, Gangstarr’s Daily Operation, Kill Emil has been prolifically chopping up breaks on his MPC and is now up to his third artist album, the intriguingly titled Salvation. Its twelve tracks introduce dense soundscapes and clever samples over rough, funky rhythms, providing fuel to the DJs and head-nodders alike. Highlights on this Cold Busted release include the bouncy and somewhat spacey “When I See Your Smile”, the wistful yet playful “Can’t Find It”, and the surprisingly cosmic “Such A Long Time”. Kill Emil’s constructions contain many twists and turns within the layers … this imaginative producer keeps things interesting for the full run of his captivating album. Expand your mind and find Salvation . All Good Funk Alliance - "Nice beats and samples here … I'm digging this." Mark Farina - "I'm liking a few of these tracks." Danny Massure (Spring Strut) - "Tasty!" Rory Hoy (Howlin' Records / Super Hi-Fi) - "Beautiful trip hop beats in this fantastic release." Renegades Of Jazz (Agogo Records / Mojo Club) - "This is nice and mellow." Quincy Jointz (Timewarp) - "Nice chill grooves." Mojo Rising (Cold Busted / F.A.M.I.L.Y.) - "Smooth, silky beats with lush vocal treats floating on top. Lovely stuff." Shantisan (Salted Soul / One Note Samba) - "Great groovers … a wonderful soundtrack for the summer." Stereo 77 (Plimsoll Records) - "Nice work here ... it reminds me of Rae & Christian and Grand Central Records." DJ Sun (Soular Grooves) - "Tasty downtempo vibes!" DJ BMF (Phat N' Jazzy) - "I like all the Kill Emil stuff I've heard … very cool head-nod music." Doc Proof (Funkanomics) - "Dope beats … the entire release is great." Aja Allsop (Ketch A Vibe Radio Show) - "Very classy beats throughout." Lebrosk (Mixmag) - "I'm liking the sound of this one!" Dr. Best (Headz / Limbo Rhythm) - "Nice downtempo album … a soundtrack for sofa surfers." . Available now from The Cold Busted Bandcamp Shop: Beatport: and iTunes: Label and Artist Links:

  • Hymnal AYA (Featuring Rigzin)
    Random Rab

The Story: This album has changed my life. I wrote these songs over the last several years and really lost myself in its creation. I went to all extents to create something that sounded perfect. Something that would allow me to die in peace upon its creation. In certain cicumstances, I felt as though a force were writing the songs through me or that the songs were already written and I was merely a conduit. I feel as though these tracks are more like the story of my souls journey through the cosmos than an expression of my life. The Sound: I've been playing dancefloors for years. I decided to make an album, though, which combined what I learned from bootyshakin beats with the understanding that the CD would also be played in cars, bedrooms, dorms, walkmans, and wherever destiny lead it. It's really a concept album that bridges electronic genres such as Trip-Hop, Breaks, and Drum and Bass with more song/lyric-based elements and ethnic mobility. My friend, Rigzin, joined me on track 9, HymnalAYA, and sang some of the most beautiful Tibetan chant I've ever heard. This song still has the power to bring tears to my eyes if I'm not careful. Other than that, all of the vocals are mine. The Artwork: The artist Darrah Danielle has been my creatrix for two albums now and this is one of her finest works. I often tell people that one of the most important reasons to buy the album is to own the exquisite original collage work. We worked together intimately on this project and a simultaneous vision emerged. I cannot express the gratitude I have for Darrah's creation and its inspiration for the music born of its divine incarnation.

  • Listen To My Heart Beat

The Album's Concept: Everyone has a story, One story; The Monomyth. You are the main character. To understand the nature of story and what it means to us is to understand your own life path. Monomyth Separation is Part One of the Hero’s Journey. Will you accept the call to adventure? This album was born during my first big tour of Greece. I played 10 cities and travelled around the whole country playing my music. I received such great energy and feedback from fans that I decided I must make a project inspired by the trip, so I started digging! I collected records from around Greece; some traditional greek music plus other nice bits that I found. Whilst I was traveling, I was trying to come up with a concept that would tell the tale of a great journey. And of course, as I was in Greece ideas of myth and legend came to mind. So, when I returned home I researched a few things and stumbled across a theory by a philosopher and writer called Joseph Campbell. Basically, he wrote a book called “The hero with a thousand faces” in which he describes a theory that all great stories share; common elements - that they are all one story, a Monomyth. Is there a deeper meaning to why we tell stories? Are they a road map for our very existence, and a way to describe the cycle of life, death and rebirth? Due to this the album is very cinematic. I try to tell a story, but I want the listener to decide what that story is. The album will be best enjoyed as a whole so please find a quiet time to settle in and enjoy the ride. credits

  • Need a Name - Just As You Are

With 9 tracks, Matter is one of the most challenging projects I ever worked on: much of the time I spent working on the album, I've been listening and relistening to every track, shaping and tweaking every little detail and sound until I could feel the right vibe, the one which always represented Need a Name for me as the beginning of my musical journey, but mixed up with many technical aspects I managed to learn during the past years, also thanks to my work on Chasing Dreams, which allowed me to improve my artistic self-expression. Matter's melodies are pretty minimalistic, for the most part reminiscent of "Sizzling Plucks", the album that really defined Need a Name and its spacey and dreamy vibes, but with a maniacal cure for all the minimal details. ---------- All music written, performed, recorded, mixed and mastered by Dario Lupo.
