The Album's Concept: Everyone has a story, One story; The Monomyth. You are the main character. To understand the nature of story and what it means to us is to understand your own life path. Monomyth Separation is Part One of the Hero’s Journey. Will you accept the call to adventure? This album was born during my first big tour of Greece. I played 10 cities and travelled around the whole country playing my music. I received such great energy and feedback from fans that I decided I must make a project inspired by the trip, so I started digging! I collected records from around Greece; some traditional greek music plus other nice bits that I found. Whilst I was traveling, I was trying to come up with a concept that would tell the tale of a great journey. And of course, as I was in Greece ideas of myth and legend came to mind. So, when I returned home I researched a few things and stumbled across a theory by a philosopher and writer called Joseph Campbell. Basically, he wrote a book called “The hero with a thousand faces” in which he describes a theory that all great stories share; common elements - that they are all one story, a Monomyth. Is there a deeper meaning to why we tell stories? Are they a road map for our very existence, and a way to describe the cycle of life, death and rebirth? Due to this the album is very cinematic. I try to tell a story, but I want the listener to decide what that story is. The album will be best enjoyed as a whole so please find a quiet time to settle in and enjoy the ride. credits

Digging deep enough I'm sure you'll find suspense. Open windows just to jump right through and break your legs. Doesn't matter I'll just have some bacon and eggs. *Repeat* I don't know about you, but I'm getting worn out. There' nothing left here to do. I could just end out the blue, what's it all about. Just pretend that you're new. People talk about a state of mind that makes them tense. Digging deep enough I'm sure you'll find suspense. Open windows just to jump right through and break your legs. Doesn't matter I'll just have some bacon and eggs. *Repeat*

Jani R previously appeared on Silk Sofa with his "Collision" EP, as well as his lush remixes of Seagrave's "Tick Tock". The Original Mix quickly establishes a unique and mesmerizing soundscape. Soon thereafter, gorgeous string layers emerge, as well as a beautiful and tranquil theme synth. As the song progresses, various percussion elements are introduced, accompanied by stunning textural sound effects. The song brilliantly showcases the quality of sounds and melodies to be expected on Jani's full-length artist album. Data Rebel is a new addition to the Silk Sofa roster, and his remix of "A Thousand Flares" could not be a better introduction. His remix begins with soothing pad and string lines, as well as refreshing sound effects in the background. A lush breakbeat is introduced soon thereafter, while an enjoyable bassline appears underneath. The song is continuously spiced up with new melodies and structural changes, enhancing the atmosphere even further. --- ▼ Photography: Photographer: Neal Fowler Website: http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]

Out Now On Cold Busted ------------------ 1. Casablanca Funk 2. Shanghai Nights 3. Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight 4. Tales Of Africa 5. In the Mountains 6. Late Night Call 7. Yu Garden + 14 more tracks on the full album Historically Casablanca has been known as a global melting pot; a place where cultures mingle and fuse. This quality is evident in the dazzling music of Casablanca-based beat-maker and guitarist saib., who, after EP releases on Cult Classic Records and Japan’s Introducing! label, has revealed his debut long-player, the appropriately titled Around The World album for Cold Busted. These tunes showcase saib.’s worldly vibe, tied together with his intricate guitar playing which deftly keeps up with all the styles represented on the album. Hip hop beats form the backbone as saib.’s musical palette skips from jazz flavors to lounge experiments to Asian textures … and sometimes within a single track. Highlights include the dance floor stomp of “Casablanca Funk”, “Don’t Be Lonely Tonight”’s jazzy sing-a-long groove, the kung fu beats and gentle melodies in “Shanghai Nights”, and the dreamy “In The Mountains” which highlights saib.’s exceptional guitar technique. Around The World is indeed a non-stop flight, touching down on all of saib.’s influences and predilections, creating a memorable album along the way. . Opolopo - "Nice sample work and grooves!" Fort Knox Five - "Solid global-influenced beats. Perfect for our Funk the World mix series." All Good Funk Alliance - "Really great release … loving all these gems." Dr Rubberfunk (Jalapeno Records) - "Very groovy … I'm a fan of the tasteful guitar work and the production to match." Inland Knights - "Tight beats as ever from Cold Busted." Hippie Torrales - "Hot hot hot!" Trotter (Royal Soul Records) - "Dope … I love it!" Rory Hoy (Howlin' Records / Super Hi-Fi) - "Incredible release!" Stickybuds (Goodgroove Records) - "Nice trip hop style … I like." Belabouche (Midnight Riot / DiscoDat) - "I love this!" Danny Massure (Spring Strut) - "Funky and fresh." Double-D (Funky Fresh Radio Show) - "Fresh … nice atmospheres and international samples." DJ Tomas (Google Play / ForwardEver) - "Globetrotting in every sense of the term. These international music sounds and classic breaks work seamlessly here. Even with a touch of a throwback trip-hop sound, these tracks sound fresh." . Order Vinyl 12'' & Digital : http://bit.ly/2yMcNMC Greece's Melting Records close out 2017 with welcome return of the Tales of Another Direction compilation, now in its second volume. Tales of Another Direction Vol. 2 brings back some exciting Melting Records mainstays and introduces promising new talent, confirming the label's ear-to-the-ground taste-making prowess. The ten track collection – not including the 'bonus track' – is an aural journey in the best sense of the term, leading the listener down a jazzy pathway paved with trip hop, downtempo, and chilled electronic delights. Tales of Another Direction Vol. 2 opens with the seductive "Flyentists" by French producer Screenatorium, featuring beautiful, smokey vocals and hazy, lazy rhythms. "Deep Water" – by Renegades of Jazz side-project Keno – continues this intoxicating vibe with its beachside sounds, organ and loungey horn loops, and beckoning female vocal snippets. Other strong highlights include the classic trip hop sound of Kognitif's "Flamant Rose", Skinshape and Jon Moody's '70s noir throwback "Oboe Diddly", the tough, choppy beats and trippy sitar of "Growth Strategies" by Niles Philips (Timewarp, Inc), and the hypnotic "Primeira Sessão" by MPC bandits Billa Qause and Mononome. The Story: This album has changed my life. I wrote these songs over the last several years and really lost myself in its creation. I went to all extents to create something that sounded perfect. Something that would allow me to die in peace upon its creation. In certain cicumstances, I felt as though a force were writing the songs through me or that the songs were already written and I was merely a conduit. I feel as though these tracks are more like the story of my souls journey through the cosmos than an expression of my life. The Sound: I've been playing dancefloors for years. I decided to make an album, though, which combined what I learned from bootyshakin beats with the understanding that the CD would also be played in cars, bedrooms, dorms, walkmans, and wherever destiny lead it. It's really a concept album that bridges electronic genres such as Trip-Hop, Breaks, and Drum and Bass with more song/lyric-based elements and ethnic mobility. My friend, Rigzin, joined me on track 9, HymnalAYA, and sang some of the most beautiful Tibetan chant I've ever heard. This song still has the power to bring tears to my eyes if I'm not careful. Other than that, all of the vocals are mine. The Artwork: The artist Darrah Danielle has been my creatrix for two albums now and this is one of her finest works. I often tell people that one of the most important reasons to buy the album is to own the exquisite original collage work. We worked together intimately on this project and a simultaneous vision emerged. I cannot express the gratitude I have for Darrah's creation and its inspiration for the music born of its divine incarnation.
